GSD&M Has 35 ‘SXSurrogates’ at the Conference

By Matt Van Hoven

GSD&M Idea City, one of the largest local agencies here in Austin, is sending 35 “SXSurrogates” to the event over the next few days to send “learnings back to the agency and community through social media (Posterous, Twitter, etc.) and postings on”

Though they aren’t an official sponsor of the conference, the agency’s participation in SXSW overall is large. After the jump, a rundown of everything they have going on from here til Kingdom Come.

But first, some quick math. Assuming GSD&M was on the up-and-up with the badges, 35 would cost at a minimum $13,825. At the high end, $19,259. The disparity in cost is due to the time frame in which tickets were purchased. ie walk-ups are $550/person, but if the shop was wise enough to buy them before September 25, they got each for a cool $395 &#151 and that’s just the interactive portion.

Whatever the case, GSD&M is a big player in this year’s events, hosting concerts, participating in panels and much, much more.

We’ve heard Razorfish is sending a few people, but not much more. Gotta represent for Austin, no?
