Grey Canada and Miami Ad School Toronto Launches ‘The First Chapter Project’

By Erik Oster

Such notable authors as F. Scott FitzgeraldDon DeLilloDorothy Sayers, Joseph HellerSalman Rushdie and Helen Gurley Brown were copywriters before finding literary fame. Of course, it’s a common cliche that copywriters everywhere have a novel they’re sure they’ll finish one day stored away somewhere.

That’s why Grey Canada and Miami Ad School are asking you to do something with that unfinished masterpiece. They’ve launched a project calling on copywriters to contribute to “a novel of unfinished novels” called “The First Chapter Project.”

“Think of it as a Kickstarter campaign,” Stephen Jurisic, dean of Miami Ad School explained. “But instead of asking for money, we’re asking for the first chapter of your unfinished book.”

The goal is to collect as many chapters as possible and publish the resulting collection. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to a Miami Ad School scholarship fund.

You can submit the first chapter of your own work-in-progress (you know you have one) at FirstChapterProject.com.
