Goodby Alum Takes CSO Post at McCann West

By Kiran Aditham

Compared to yesterday’s CSO announce, Matt Herrmann (left) just seems straight-up cheery. Makes sense considering that McCann North America president Robert LePlae announced him as the new EVP/chief strategy officer for McCann Erickson West. In turn, Herrmann will oversee the strategic practice in the agency’s San Francisco and LA offices.

Herrmann arrives at McCann after spending five years at Goodby, where he served as deputy director, brand strategy and led efforts for clients including Haagen-Dazs, Rolling Rock, Quaker Foods, eBay and Hyundai. During his tenure there, Herrmann picked up the 2008 Jay Chiat Gold Planning Award for Rolling Rock (“Beer Ape” anyone?). Prior to Goodby, Herrmann held senior account planning roles at BBH New York, Leo Burnett Chicago and Cliff Freeman & Partners.
