Giant Spoon Hires Kristin Maverick as EVP of Social Strategy

By Kyle O'Brien

Giant Spoon has hired Kristin Maverick as its new evp, social strategy, tasked with creating a unifying vision for the agency’s social offering. Maverick’s hire builds on the company’s investment in and expansion of its social team, influencer services and maker studio.

Maverick will report to co-founder Jon Haber and will work across all of Giant Spoon’s clients, with an initial focus on the Petco and Kate Spade brands.

“Content is the one of the most impactful ways brands can connect with consumers, but its impact is only as good as your social media strategy,” said Haber in a statement. “To be a truly holistic full-service agency, we’re investing in building a team of world-class multidisciplinary social strategists—and Kristin is the right person to lead the charge.”

Maverick most recently worked at 360i as svp, social marketing and strategy. There, she launched award-winning social media work for Kroger, NBCU’s Bravo TV, David Yurman, Boston Beer’s Truly Hard Seltzer and several Mondelez brands. Prior to that, she worked in social, digital and content marketing for Forsman & Bodenfors, The Barbarian Group, BBDO, Attention and Carrot Creative—as well as working in-house at NBCU.

“Social is at a point where agencies can help brands own big conversations—and reach their consumers through a multitude of social touchpoints if they’re willing to think differently,” said Maverick in a statement. “Giant Spoon has always been an agency I’ve kept my eyes on because they were founded on doing things differently.”
