Friday Stir

By Kyle O'Brien

Welcome to a Mother’s Day special edition of The Stir.

-Agency Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (BSSP) has made a tribute to mothers of all kinds to celebrate Mother’s Day, because it knows that motherhood is not the same for everyone. There are many different kinds of moms out there—many who don’t get celebrated. Featuring images and videos from the personal archives of BSSP staffers, set to a voiceover from BSSP’s Cierra Moore, the video pays homage to birth moms, dog moms, surrogate mothers, to moms lost. The video is one of the first outputs from the new innovation program BSSP introduced at the start of the year, “Break Out Briefs.”

-Ahead of Mother’s Day, Burger King decided to indulge weird motherly cravings by creating special Whoppers for expectant moms.

-The pandemic has universally amplified levels of stress and anxiety among women, with moms and caregivers most deeply affected. That’s why Martin Agency creatives Kate Placentra and Kim Nguyen tapped into their own personal journeys to create “Motherhood? (0-24months),” a collection of art-adjacent and poem-like objects intended to bring peace to stressed out and anxious mothers everywhere. The two also launched a physical book for Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day. All proceeds from “Motherhood?” will be donated to Postpartum Support International.

-In honor of Mother’s Day 2022, Horizon Media, is presenting a campaign, “The Mother of All Titles,” recognizing the invaluable work of moms and how it translates in the workplace. The campaign will enable a social community of working moms and mom allies to share insights about their personal experiences in the workplace, as well as share what companies can do to provide more effective resources for them to thrive at work.

-In honor of mothers and fathers, and as part of a broader initiative to be a people-first agency, The Many is gifting a day off the Friday before both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day so staff can take time for themselves to recharge, restore and relax.

-In celebration of Mother’s Day, Colectivo Coffee, a Milwaukee-based regional roaster, is offering a special, limited-time “Mom’s Coffee.” The coffee comes from an association of female producers in Colombia called “Las Rosas” (The Roses) and is available online as well as at Colectivo cafes. A social campaign was created by Milwaukee indie agency Hanson Dodge, which was named Colectivo’s agency of record in February.
