FDA Invites Agencies to Comment on Pharma Industry’s Web/Social Media Tactics

By Matt Van Hoven

On November 12th, the Food and Drug Administration wants ad agencies, consumers, patients, caregivers, health care professionals, patient groups, Internet vendors and any other interested parties to participate in a two day conversation “to discuss issues related to the promotion of FDA-regulated medical products (including prescription drugs for humans and animals, prescription biologics, and medical devices) using the Internet and social media tools.”

Beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on the 12th and 13th, the public hearing will provide insight for the FDA to begin creating policy regarding Web tactics for promoting human and animal drugs, biologics and medical devices.
