FCB Chicago Celebrates Radio Flyer’s 100th Anniversary with ‘Super Race Car’

By Erik Oster

FCB Chicago celebrates the first ever National Little Red Wagon Day in honor of Radio Flyer’s 100th anniversary with the spot “Super Race Car” which promotes the childhood staple as “Imagination on Wheels.”

To illustrate the tagline, the spot depicts two grown men standing in front of a red sports car, with juice cartons in their hands. “What kind of car is this?” one asks, to which the other replies, “It’s a super race car,” adding that it goes 600 miles per hour. The other points out that his space ship goes 6,000 miles per hour and the spot ends with them (predictably) changing to kids and swapping vehicles. While not exactly a new concept, the execution is pretty spot on here, with FCB Chicago capturing how young kids actually speak to each other pretty perfectly. It’s also a really good approach for the brand, offering a good summation of its place in childhood. Plus it’s notable for being an ad from FCB Chicago that doesn’t make reference to farts, testicles or pants-shitting.
