Executive Creative Director Nobbie Kim Leaves Omnicom’s Kern Agency

By Patrick Coffee

Nobbie Kim, veteran of TBWA\Chiat\Day and other agencies, has left Omnicom’s Kern after approximately one year.

We last heard from Kim last year when he left Rauxa after two years; during his time there he led creative on campaigns for Verizon and Dentegra.

Sources tell us that the agency recently decided to eliminate all freelance workers from its creative department in the interest of cutting costs and that Kim requested to retain several members of his team before he and the agency parted ways.

Kim was preceded at Kern by ECD Jim Rosen, who passed in early 2015 due to a metastatic melanoma.

Prior to joining Rauxa, Kim held top creative roles at TBWA Los Angeles and Innocean; he may be best known for the 2011 “blood oath” in which he promised to create “one piece of iconic work” within the following six months. Kern’s given client list currently includes AmEx, HP, Adobe, SAP, DirecTV, Bank of America and many others.

Today Kim confirmed that he is no longer with the L.A.-based Kern but declined to elaborate. The agency has not yet responded to our requests for comment.
