Exclusive: EnergyBBDO Chicago & Prometheus Dub-Lay VTECH

By Matt Van Hoven

You won’t find this anywhere else, kiddies. Any of you Chicago folk who are worried about the dismal state of the industry there can look at this take like economists are looking at yesterday’s GDP jump &#151 a good sign that don’t mean Jack when it comes to the industry overall.

Nonetheless, we though you’d like to hear that the agency that lost this dude and picked up Dan Fietsam a few months ago has won a bit of business.

We haven’t confirmed what the account is worth or just how many jobs it saved at the agency, but we do know the Energy kids will be doing creative and Prometheus Media Services will me providing…media services.

The campaign for they’ll build for the toy company will be full integrated, including brand strategy and multi-platform creative development. Prometheus will handle all aspects of media.

Energy claimed the prestigious AoR title for VTech Electronics and Learning Toys, but we haven’t heard for how long they’ll maintain it. You can be certain that this isn’t a one-off project, though.

In terms of talent, starting pitcher Al Wyatt and catcher (get your heads out of the gutter) Todd Hoffman will run the creative aspects, with Chris McGahay stepping in to coach third; (OK so she’s the planning director, but we couldn’t resist the baseball correlation).

Congrats, y’all. Now, who else was pitching these folks and where they’re getting the biz from. Last we heard, Merkley Newman Harty & Partners and Fallon were competing for it &#151 but that was in 2001.

Update: Just an FYI &#151 Fallon lost the bid to Merkley Newman Harty.
