Ex-Crispin Creative Chris Wiggins Heads to Google

It looks like Chris Wiggins’ career crowdsourcing efforts paid off as the former Crispin Porter + Bogusky CD has landed a plum gig as digital creative director at Google Creative Labs.

Just over three months ago when he announced he was leaving CP+B, Wiggins told us he was looking for something different outside of the agency world and it appears he didn’t back down from his sentiment. Now, he will lead a team out of New York whose leadership he says “has more of a history with traditional brand stewardship and marketing background and they needed more of a background like mine.”

Interestingly enough, it wasn’t just crowdsourcing that led Wiggins to Google, but a chat with now-former MDC chief creative insurgent Alex Bogusky. Wiggins adds, “He just seems to be on his own course and it was actually that chat that spurred me to do what I did and it confirmed that he and I are in similar mental states.”

Wiggins reveals that he actually begins orientation at Google today and his new post will call for him to make frequent trips to the company’s Mountain View, CA headquarters.
