Everything Goes to the Dogs This Christmas for Hudson Rouge and Lincoln

By Patrick Coffee

If advertising has taught us two universal holiday truths, they’re that everyone wants a car for Christmas and dogs always know better than people where the plot is going.

In the case of this new campaign for Ford’s Lincoln brand from dedicated shop Hudson Rouge, the narrative is a fairly simple one: she’s coming home, and the dog can feel it in the air.

Not quite as elaborate as last year’s spot, which included snow and reindeer in the middle of sunny California. But it does promote the Lincoln Wishlist Sales Event. And we’re just glad she drove safely through all that ice.

The agency said they took “the emotional route again this year” in order to “cut through the tremendous clutter of holiday sales event spots from carmakers.”

And like last year, there’s a little add-on. This time it’s a collection of canine-flavored UGC featuring dogs reunited with their owners to remind us that—unlike so many things in advertising—this sentiment is all too real.

Love the bleeped out curse from the guy in the 49ers hoodie. That’s authenticity.
