Every Super Bowl Ad This Year Was Made by a White Person

By Matt Van Hoven

The Madison Avenue Project asked Dr. Richard Lapchick to find out if advertising is still racist. The result, yes! At least as far as the Super Bowl is concerned.

“Of the 52 professionally produced ads by advertising agencies and aired during the Super Bowl this year, all of the creative directors (100%) were white, 6% of which were women. Not one of the creative directors was Black or Latino.”

Since the study only counted creatives, we can also infer that creative directors are still the only important players in the advertising industry. Thanks, Cyrus Mehri, for this eye-opening study.
