CD Runkle Leaving Zambezi

By Patrick Coffee

Jon RunkleLA’s Zambezi confirmed that Jonathan Runkle, a copywriter and creative director who’s been with the agency for more than four years, will soon be leaving.

Unfortunately, we do not know exactly where he’s going…but there’s hardly a shortage of agencies in the Los Angeles area.

Runkle joined Zambezi as ACD in 2011 after freelancing for a period and received the CD promotion in mid-2013. Prior to moving West, he spent several years writing copy for Leo Burnett and BBDO, serving as ACD at both BBDO New York and Proximity/Atmosphere. He also spent several months working on the US Army and Captain Morgan accounts at MRM Worldwide.

The most recent campaign that we covered involving Runkle was VEEV’s “Cheat on Your Vodka”; other work at Zambezi included ads for 2K Sports, Eastbay, Gold Peak Iced Tea, fruitwater, and more. Here’s his portfolio, from which we learned that he is NOT a fan of exclamation points or ice cubes in whiskey.

Not even one? Really? What about the cheap stuff?

Runkle’s departure follows that of Zambezi co-founder/ECD Brian Ford by approximately two months. Still no word on why he left or where he will land.

Updates, etc.
