ECD Curtis Melville Out at Campbell Ewald

By Patrick Coffee

Campbell Ewald or The Artist Formerly Known as Lowe Campbell Ewald has parted ways with its executive creative director Curtis Melville.

C-E, which now describes itself as “an independent agency within the IPG network,” first named Melville to the ECD role last April.

Prior to joining C-E, he spent three years as EVP/ECD and managing partner at Team Detroit, where he worked closely on all aspects of Ford’s marketing campaigns. Earlier roles include CD duties on Yahoo for Ogilvy, an ECD position at Saatchi & Saatchi San Francisco, multiple titles at Hal Riney and time spent running his own freelance operations, which collaborated with Fallon, Team Detroit, Ogilvy, GS&P, JWT Detroit and more.

During his year-and-a-half stint with the Campbell organization, Melville worked on campaigns for such clients as the U.S. Navy and, more recently, the OnStar service.

Agency CEO Jim Palmer tells us:

“Curtis has informed us that he’s leaving the agency to pursue other opportunities. He is very talented and we’re sorry to see him go. We wish him all the best as he embarks on his next chapter.”

While tipsters claim that multiple staffers were laid off from Campbell Ewald today, the official word from the agency holds that Melville was the only person to leave.

On a final note, sources say that Melville has never commented on AgencySpy, though we have deleted the words of several parties posting under his name.

Attempts to contact him for comment on this post were unsuccessful.
