Droga5 Signs New Director of Technology

By Patrick Coffee

Two top members of DigitasLBi New York’s tech team left the agency in recent weeks, with one joining cloud computing giant Salesforce and one landing at Droga5 as its new director of technology.

Andrew Prondak joins Droga after spending more than three years with the Digitas and LBi organizations, a period during which Publicis mashed the two entities into one to create a “digital super-shop” with 5,000+ employees. (One may easily encounter widely divergent opinions on the success of that merger.) So he was tech director at MRY, tech director at LBi and VP/director of technology at Digitas within a three-year span–all without technically changing jobs. Previous agency positions include stints at R/GA and ROKKAN.

Prondak, who attended FIT, is a self-defined geek who has helped launch campaigns and site redesigns for such clients as Speedo, Jose Cuervo, Nike, Puma, AmEx and Kid Rock.

Droga’s head of interactive production Niklas Lindstrom writes:

“As we continue to grow and evolve our offerings at Droga5, seeking the best talent within the industry is key. Hiring Andy was a no-brainer as he has built best in class technology practices and has worked with reputable brands throughout his career. We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the agency.”

VP/group director of tech Itai Asseo also left DigitasLBI’s New York team last month to join Salesforce. His background is heavier on startups and ecommerce ventures than that of Prondak, but he had been with the Digitas organization for more than seven years, rising from the senior creative engineer position to that of “creative architect” and VP of tech info with a focus on UX and software. He also founded Digitas Labs, the agency’s “global innovation network.

DigitasLBi has not yet responded to a request for comment on the departing team members and its plans to replace them.
