Droga5 Shares ‘Teacher Truths’ for Clearasil

Droga5 launched “Teacher Truths” for Clearasil, following up on its “Interruption” effort in July, which was its first work for the Reckitt Benckiser brand since picking up creative duties last May.

Like its predecessor, “Teacher Truths” assures adolescent viewers that teenage acne won’t last forever. This time around there’s less time spent on prompting the actual brand and its connection to ending acne quickly, as it instead focuses on the fact that while high school ends for students, teachers have to deal with it for their entire careers, as delivered by the teachers themselves. “I will never stop hearing Uranus jokes,” complains a science teacher at the start of the spot, soon joined by a math teacher complaining that he’s seen “thousands and thousands of boobs…on a calculator.” One poor soul even has the misfortune of being a substitute teacher, which is way harder than anyone who hasn’t done it assumes. The low key humor and assurance that the embarrassment of teenage acne are a nice change for the brand, and the category, but the accompanying contest is a bit of a head scratcher. It calls on students to “submit a truth from your teacher” for a chance at a $5,000 college scholarship. What teacher has time for that?
