Once enjoying a career as a trailer editor for films like Transformers, Grindhouse and Smokin’ Aces, director Stephen Reedy is set to take the ad world by storm, swear words intact.
Imagine, if you will, a client who wants lens flare, slow motion, female humans and shit falling all in one spot? While many directors would scoff at the idea of including everything awesome imaginable into a commercial, it seems that Reedy is ready to step up to the challenge with ‘splosions aplenty. Judging by his website, he specializes in highly stylized videos for creative collective Zerofriends, Def Jux Recordings and even masked DJ deadmau5. But, will Reedy’s odd, sarcastic resume give the 27-year-old filmmaker new business? As Reedy says in a statement, “I use cuss words in my resume. It’s a 1-way ticket to being turned down by 99.9% of everyone I send it to. But all I need is that 0.01%, that one person of influence to appreciate the craziness and start a mutually beneficial relationship.” We’ll see if this little experiment works.
