Did You Know: Toyota Crowdsourced Their Name/Logo

In 1936, Kiichiro Toyoda (no, not Toyota) created the automobile company that today is known for killing people, allegedly. Anyway, Toyoda at the time owned another company called Toyoda, which his father started ten years prior. They made looms.

So Toyoda held a contest asking participants to design the automobile company’s logo. A paltry 27,000 people responded with designs. The one above was the winner. Learn more about it here.
