Deutsch, VW Party With Adam Scott

By Erik Oster

Deutsch launched a new spot for Deutsch starring Adam Scott, Michael Peña and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, entitled “Party.”

The 30-second spot promotes Volkswagen’s all-new infotainment system, App-Connect with a comedically awkward scenario. It opens with Peña using the system to call Scott and inquire about the party he’s heard he’s throwing. Scott denies that he’s throwing any such party, while in a car full of party supplies. When Mintz-Plasse then calls Peña to ask if he’s going to Scott’s party, Peña decides instead to throw a party of his own, using App-Connect to find the nearest party supply store. It’s an effective and memorable way to introduce App-Connect and the actors convincingly portray a very awkward situation. “Party” will be followed by a second broadcast called “Sorry” which we can only assume will feature Scott‘s apology.

“With Volkswagen’s App-Connect, consumers will find one of the most innovative and comprehensive suites of smartphone connectivity, available in the majority of our vehicles,” said Vinay Shahani, vice president, marketing, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “Our new campaign humorously shows how Volkswagen App-Connect allows drivers to access their favorite smartphone functions in a simple and seamless way.”
