DDB New York, Huawei Want to Give You Time to Become a Ninja Magician

DDB New York launched a new ad for global information and communications technology solutions provider promoting the brand’s Huawei Watch by promising “1,00o Hours of Greatness.”

“This watch could teach you German” opens the voiceover in the ad for the smartwatch, directed by O Positive’s Jonathan Klein, before going on to suggest it could help you play the drums, make you a dancer, help you paint and more. “This watch could make you smarter by giving you time,” the spot concludes, introducing the “1,000 Hours of Greatness” giveaway, ending December 31, which offers contestants the opportunity to win “up to 1,000 hours of lessons/training whose value will not exceed $70,000 to learn a skill of their choosing…including a cash stipend of $30,000 to help offset, but not completely eliminate, the tax liability associated with accepting the prize.” It’s an interesting idea for a giveaway, giving winners the incentive to learn learn a skill they’ve always wanted to but haven’t had the time and/or money for. We’re not entirely sure what the watch’s selling points are, however.
