Creative Director to Strut on Big Screen

By Matt Van Hoven

In your wildly entertaining Monday news we bring you a brief story about Jonathan McEwan, a creative director charged with branding one of NYC’s biggest media-on-media publications, MediaPost. McEwan, who sometimes goes by Jonny Mack, is also a night-warrior/adult film actor &#151 whose go-go dancing skills landed him a role in an upcoming not-adult-film with “CSI: Las Vegas” actor Gerard McCullouch. Own it J-Mack.

Bear City“, according to the movie’s Web site, is

“Set in New York’s gay ‘bear’ scene and taking a cue from the popular HBO franchise ‘Sex and the City,’ BearCity follows a tight-knit pack of friends experiencing comical mishaps, emotionally sweet yet lusty romantic encounters and a cast of colorful, diverse characters as they gear up for a big party weekend.”

Yes, Jonny Mack is a bear &#151 the guy is just plain busy. He somewhat reluctantly confirmed this to us today, worried about the potential outcome if we published his story. But how often does a creative talent make it to the big screen and have a side career entertaining NYC? Half of Madison Avenue is drooling, right now, as they read this.

Luckily this is advertising, where prudishness does not exist and people are lauded for their ability to be creative, in-touch bears who design/brand stuff during the day and shake their bootays at night. And sometimes on weekends at their not-safe-for-work place. Also luckily, porn is now the subject of many “reality shows” and everyone* loves the gays. We all have things we like to do more than working (though ad-kids don’t seem to get this), this guy just happens to be really good at his thing. Stand tall man, most of us can’t keep a beat with a metronome.

In case you’re not convinced of Mr. Mack’s celebrity status in the NYC gay-bear-dance-scene (which we learned a lot about, just this morning) ManHunt (nsfw)loves him. And that’s sort of a big deal.

His three-year career entertaining the m4m masses started easily enough, with a recommendation from a friend &#151 and escalated from there into his current role as lead dancer for a club called Paradise (Asbury Park!), which he writes about from time to time on his blog. And apparently he performs and entertains (nsfw) in a way that appeals to a broader audience than you might guess, given his upcoming film debut.

The film looks less porny than you’d think &#151 and we hear may be debuted at the Berlin Film Festival. Achtung.
