Today in Colorado News, independent agency HLK of St. Louis has announced plans to expand its existing office in Denver and hired a veteran of local shops Grenadier and Crispin Porter + Bogusky to lead that location.

Rob Hofferman comes to HLK after a stint as group account director at CP+B’s headquarters, where he worked on Hershey, Kraft-Heinz, Lay’s and OtterBox.

He will put his 25-plus years of agency experience to work as managing director of HLK Denver.

“Rob’s passion for creating and his immeasurable empathy for brand audiences truly exemplifies our values of being thoughtful, curious and brave,” said partner Eric Karlovic, who referenced the organization’s desire to “continue to build our footprint in the area.”

Hofferman himself cited the agency’s “rich Midwestern roots” in explaining his decision to leave CP+B, adding, “It is exciting to build off of the success of the network and the Denver office, which already has four years of insightful client work under its belt.”

In 2012, Hofferman co-founded Grenadier, the Barkley partner agency led by some veterans of (surprise) CP+B. According to his own resume, he later left that role and went to Crispin because there was “not enough revenue to support a five-partner structure.”

He’d previously moved out West after working for nearly 8 years at Grey New York, where he ascended to the SVP level.

HLK’s client list currently includes some interesting entries in the healthcare and biotech industries, including Monstanto, Biogen, Pivot Bio and SCL Health.
