Clio Cuts the Fat for 51st Awards Show

By Kiran Aditham

To celebrate its return to New York, which also happens to be the theme of the event, the Clio Awards is making a couple of changes for the 51st annual gala, which takes place May 26 and May 27 at the Skylight SoHo (the conference sessions will occur at Trump SoHo). The biggest difference this year will be that the show’s been trimmed down from a tedious four hours to 75 minutes, and this is still with the max. 15 acceptance speeches, judges videos and the Lifetime Achievement Clio which will be given to Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein.

The Clios is also upgrading things a bit by unveiling a digital display of this year’s winners via 22 plasma screens at the Skylight. Meanwhile, N*E*R*D/Neptunes producer and Grammy winner Pharrell Williams will be the subject of a keynote Q+A. In case you haven’t seen who’s judging the work in 13 categories, click here.
