Chris Ford’s Time at O&M Sydney Comes to an End

By Kiran Aditham

Chris Ford was this close to making it a year as ECD at Ogilvy Sydney, but it looks like O&M Australia’s executive chairman Tom Moult had other plans. Our buds at Campaign Brief contacted us in the wee hours of the morn to let us know that Ford is out after 11 months in his post.

Last June, Ford was imported from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, where he spent a dozen years, was a GCD on Comcast (including the award-winning “Rabbits” effort) and worked on other accounts including Saturn, Adobe and Budweiser. Prior to Goodby, he was an ACD at TBWA\Chiat\Day.

Campaign Brief claims that nearly a year after Ford was brought on to oversee all creative output across Ogilvy Sydney and essentially resurrect the agency’s creative department, “the work has not noticeably improved.” No word as to whether Ford is staying Down Under or heading back to the States, but O&M is now on the hunt for his replacement. Is it us or do most American creatives just not last too long in Australia (ok, maybe just Goodby’s… *cough* Franklin Tipton *cough*)?  How come the same doesn’t seem to apply vice versa?
