Chipotle Spending Its Burrito Bucks on GSD&M and the City of Austin

By Shawn Paul Wood

Where else? Texas.

Chipotle, that farm-friendly, Denver-based home for burrito mavens, has earned a fair amount of love in marketing circles for its witticisms, its literary credentials and its dedication to original content.

Now you can add Austin’s GSD&M to the chain’s long and winding wrap list of aficionados.

According to the Austin Business JournalSteve Ells and his gang of regional marketers (nice strategy, BTW) has just signed with the agency “to handle some of its advertising work”. Coincidentally, the X Games, or ESPN’s nod to Millennial Nation and the Olympics, kicks off this week…in Austin.

“GSD&M will be focus on Chipotle’s traditional advertising component, handling the media planning and buying business and some creative projects, the report said.”

About the X-Games? GSD&M is a major sponsor of the festivities, so we’re pretty sure this check came in at just the right time…
