Bojangles Orders Up EP+Co as Agency of Record

By Erik Oster

Today in fried chicken news, Charlotte, North Carolina-based chicken and biscuits chain Bojangles has selected Greenville, South Carolina agency EP+Co as its creative agency of record, following a review conducted by Joanne Davis Consulting.

The assignment is effective as of Oct. 1 and primarily encompasses traditional advertising, in-store marketing, social content, brand strategy and planning. It’s not entirely clear who was the incumbent on the account. When we last checked in with Bojangles (checks watch) 5 years ago, it was for a campaign from Charlotte agency BooneOakley promoting the fast-food chain’s breakfast offerings.

Bojangles spent a little over $13 million on measured market last year, up from over $11 million the year before, and just over $3 million in the first quarter of 2019, according to Kantar Media.

“We met passionate agency teams during our search and were impressed with the caliber of thinking, quality people and love of Bojangles’ from all. Our decision came down to the best fit with EP+Co based on their creative insights into our brand and customers,” Bojangles CMO Jackie Woodward said in a statement. “EP+Co brought us fresh, bold ideas that are going to resonate with both our current and future customers. We loved their forward-looking approach and the energy they are going to infuse in our brand and business.”

“There’s no one like Bojangles’. They have a truly differentiated offering in the category, an extremely talented and passionate leadership team and dedicated franchisees that are committed to doing great things with their business,” added EP+Co president, CCO Con Williamson. “They’ve got big plans for their future, so we are thrilled they’ve chosen us to play a part in helping bring that vision to life. It’s gonna’ be fun!”

As fried chicken enjoys its moment in the greasy fast food spotlight, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the regional chain.
