Barton F. Graf and Tomcat Want You to Help Kill Rodents on Facebook

By Erik Oster

Barton F. Graf launched a new social campaign for pest control brand Tomcat. SPOILER: it helps you kill rats dead.

The agency called on viewers to help to decide how to kill off a cast of rodent characters (don’t worry, they’re all actually dead and taxidermied already) in a unique use of Facebook Live. Facebook users were given the opportunity vote on how the different Tomcat characters, teenagers at a cabin retreat  (echoing the horror movie cliche), are killed off.

The “Facebook Not Live” stunt kicked off at two today, as a Halloween treat from the brand. A trailer and series of fake poster ads also supported the effort, with one reading “Spoiler: They all die.”

It’s a timely gimmick in line with the agency’s previous morbid humor on behalf of the brand. Barton F. Graf kicked off the approach back in 2014 with “Dead Mouse Theatre,” which used taxidermied mice for odd theatrical productions.
