Spain’s Olympic basketball teams may have pissed off their Chinese hosts by posing for two photos (one of which is above) in which players can be seen pulling the skin on the sides of their eyes, a predication of their upcoming trip to Asia.
Accompanying the players is a picture of a dragon, which is painted on the floor of the basketball court they appear to be standing on.
A photo of this nature was taken for both the men’s and women’s teams, and was apparently used in an ad for one of the team’s sponsors, a courier company. Although originally reported by the Guardian, CBC news points out that, “…those making the pose in the men’s ad are Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon, Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol, as well as Portland Trail Blazers rookie Rudy Fernandez.
There’s no word on which courier company is responsible for the photo.
