Anomaly London, Trainline Are One With the Train

By Erik Oster

Anomaly London launched a new spot entitled “I am train” for Trainline, which was directed by Rattling Stick’s Ringan Ledwidge and shows how the app makes travel easier and can lead to peace of mind.

The 60-second spot opens with an intentionally over-the-top voiceover, which we learn is one man’s internal monologue, saying, “I pass through the ticket barriers like a wind.” His monologue continues as he “senses the change in platform number” and people follow him. He calls himself “a smooth river of a man, flowing through a platform of madness.” The flowery descriptions of the voiceover reach an unexpected and humorous conclusion as the man stands at the platform waiting for the train to arrive. “I am train” grabs attention with its humor, but it also makes sure to emphasize that the app can help commuters save money by booking in advance, keep track of their platform number and avoid long ticket lines. In other words, it can get rid of many of the stresses associated with the form of travel, a convincing selling point well illustrated by Anomaly London in the spot by the man’s complete tranquility.
