Ameriprise Selects McCann Erickson Detroit as Lead Agency

By Erik Oster

AmeripriseAmeriprise Financial has selected McCann Erickson Detroit as its new lead creative agency, according to Adweek‘s sources.

We were unable to reach Ameriprise’s head of PR today, but a McCann spokesperson confirmed the win.

McCann Erickson Detroit beat out three other finalists — identified as FCB Garfinkel, Merkley + Partners and Zimmerman Advertising — to win the account. Ameriprise spent an estimated $38 million on measured media in 2013, according to Kantar Media. The agency takes over for R/GA, who had handled the account since 2009 but declined to participate in the review. News of the review initially broke in January as it headed into its final stages. Media buying and planning were not part of the review, and will remain with Initiative.
