Alex Lubar Will Be McCann London’s New CEO

By Erik Oster

McCann Worldgroup appointed Alex Lubar as the CEO of McCann London. Currently New York-based global chief marketing officer, Lubar will transition to the new role beginning in January, working closely with joint executive creative directors and presidents Rob Doubal and Lolly Thomson. He succeeds Zaid Al-Zaidy, who is leaving the agency.

Lubar joined McCann in 2012 as CMO of McCann North America, overseeing all business activity in the region and helping to bring in new accounts such as the United States Postal Service, Lockheed Martin, Zurich Insurance and Jose Cuervo before being promoted to his current role as global CMO two years later. As global CMO he has led efforts resulting in the addition of Microsoft and Reckitt Benckiser to the agency’s client roster. Before joining McCann, the U.K. native served as senior vice president, new business at Grey. He has also served as account director with BBH and in account executive positions with The Ad Store and Rapp Collins Worldwide.

“As CMO, Alex’s multidiscipline approach to helping our clients navigate the complexities of the marketing business today and finding solutions to the challenges facing their brands has led to terrific opportunities for us and our clients,” said McCann Worldgroup chairman and CEO Harris Diamond. “Becoming CEO of our growing London agency is the natural evolution of the job Alex has been doing globally with both new and existing clients.”

“We’ll miss Zaid and wish him every success in his new venture. He’s been wonderful to work with,” said Doubal and Thomson. “But we’re really looking forward to Alex joining. He’s truly incredible and has been instrumental in transforming McCann’s global offering. We’re terrified by what we might achieve together.”
