Gav Thompson, is in the middle of an unusual charity walk he’s calling “Fat Men Walking,” since he got 17 friends to join the cause. The money raised will go to theSpinal Muscular Atrophy in the UK. Gav decided on the walk after Georgia, the 5 month old daughter of great friends of his, was diagnosed with the terminal disease. Don’t you love it went ad folk do good? Makes our tummy warm.

Well, Gav was an agency guy until he switched teams to be the Marketing Director at UK mobile operator O2. Thompson had a 13-year career in ad agencies in London, New York & Sydney. He began his career at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, where he rose to lead the team which created the Guinness ‘Good things come to those who wait’ campaign. Gav also spent time at TBWA\London, where he was responsible for the launch campaign for PlayStation 2.

Like a true media man, he’s going to be twittering his way through the 52 mile walk. Right now, the team have raised about £73,000 in sponsorship from friends and colleagues, but are trying to hit the rounded £100,000 mark. You can help. Wait, we can help.
