72andSunny Seizes Glory for Call of Duty: Black Ops III

With its November 6 release date rapidly approaching, 72andSunny launched a new spot for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the latest game in Activision’s popular franchise, entitled “Seize Glory.”

“Seize Glory,” which features actor Michael B. JordanSeattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and model Cara Delevingne made its broadcast debut during the Seahawks game against the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. It opens with Jordan asking the camera/audience, “What, y’all don’t know about Kevin?” Kevin, as it turns out is ridiculously good at Call of Duty. So good, in fact, that he easily eclipses Lynch’s “Beast Mode” with his own “Kevin Mode.” Delevingne just may have a surprise in store for Kevin, though, leading into the “There’s A Soldier In All Of Us” tagline. The spot, directed by Wayne McClammy, is set, appropriately enough, to the Rolling Stones’ classic “Paint it Black,” and makes the most of its recognizable soundtrack as the backdrop to its nonstop action (okay, maybe a quick break for a bite of a sandwich).

The approach is nothing new for Call of Duty, which has even used a Stones song before (“Gimme Shelter,” for the first Black Ops trailer) but the mix of star power, action and celebration of the everyday video game player is a formula that has worked in the past for the brand, so it’s hard to fault 72andSunny for not messing with it.
