Cleve Gibbon is joining Wunderman Thompson as chief technology officer in North America.
His appointment marks the latest in a string of leadership shakeups at the agency, which was formed last year following WPP’s merger of J. Walter Thompson and Wunderman.
In his new role, Gibbon will continue to serve as chief marketing technology officer at Cognifide, a mar tech consultancy that WPP’s digital investment arm and Wunderman bought a stake in five years ago. He’s been with the company since 2006, and will “continue to drive Cognifide’s footprint further into the U.S. market” as part of his responsibilities, which include consolidating the Wunderman Thompson technology stack in North America.
Additionally, he’ll be tasked with developing the agency’s relationships with partners including Adobe, Salesforce, Google, Amazon, Sitecore and Acquia within the region.
Gibbon will be based in Seattle and report to Shane Atchison, who joined Wunderman Thompson as North America CEO in December.
“It’s fantastic to have Cleve on board. He’s known as someone who can turn a visionary approach into practical application,” Atchison said in a statement.
Last month, Wunderman Thompson made a number of leadership hires, including naming Melissa Dorko to the role of chief growth officer in North America and appointing Carrie Philpott as president of its Atlanta office.
Wunderman Thompson also appointed Jeff Dack as CEO of its Canada operations last month.
