WPP has named Jennifer Remling as its new global chief people officer, stepping up from the same role within its media investment arm GroupM.

Remling will join the agency network’s executive committee and report directly to WPP chief executive Mark Read. She succeeds Jaqui Canney who joined from Walmart in 2019 and has moved on to join software company ServiceNow.

As part of WPP’s transformational aims, the role will see Remling take on responsibility for the company’s strategy in overseeing over 100,000 people worldwide across such elements as talent management, recruitment, leadership development, diversity, equality and inclusion and training.

Prior to joining GroupM in 2019, Remling was digital media agency Essence’s chief talent officer and also spent years working within other agencies including R/GA, AKQA, Sapient and 360i.
