President Joe Biden faces some monumental challenges entering the White House, the most urgent among them addressing the human and economic devastation caused by the pandemic—and the botched vaccine rollout by the Trump administration.

But it’s not the only destructive policy that Biden and his team have been left to unravel, namely the decision to exit the Paris Agreement in 2017, which the U.S. had joined under President Barack Obama. The international treaty governing climate change has broad support among the American public: According to data intelligence company Morning Consult, nearly three in five voters backed Biden’s executive action to rejoin the Paris Agreement.
