This AR Project Replaces Confederate Statues With Racial Justice Leaders

Racial justice organization Color Of Change has a plan for those spaces this Black History Month. An augmented reality project envisions them being topped with racial justice leaders, the late U.S. representative John Lewis, Freedom March NYC co-founder Chelsea Miller and Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza.

The pro-bono effort was created in partnership with BBDO New York, which enlisted Black sculpture artist Spencer Evans to create authentic representations of each activist­—2D sketches were then turned into 3D-renderings using CGI technology.
