These Playful Print Ads Illustrate Why It’s Worth Traveling in the Middle of the Week

BBDO Bangkok brings back its 'Weekdays' campaign for AirAsia

Everything's a little quieter in the middle of the week.

Thai AirAsia books a return flight, of sorts, with “Weekdays 2,” the playful follow-up to its acclaimed “Weekdays” push from 2015.

Both campaigns are from BBDO Bangkok, encouraging weekday travel, when Thailand’s tourist spots aren’t so crowded.

Take, for example, the sun-kissed beaches at Krabi. As you’ll see in the ad below, there’s way more clutter, human and otherwise, under those weekend umbrellas:

Similarly, at this resort in the mountain town of Chiang Rai, it looks much easier to summon waitstaff midweek than vie for their attention on a packed weekend night:

Finally, it sucks showing up on a Saturday for a romantic getaway at Udon Thani only to discover there’s not a single unbooked hotel room in town:

Note the placement of the calm, contented travelers in each ad. Situated mid-calendar, right around Wednesday, they serve as visual metaphors, cleverly illustrating that weekday travel can help you feel pleasantly centered.

Below, check out some earlier work from the campaign, which debuted in 2015, followed by credits for the new executions:
