Typically, agency talent leaves to go client-side—but Minneapolis agency Colle McVoy flipped the script with the hiring of its new director of business development.

Gina Gray joins Colle McVoy from Target, where she spent nearly seven years and most recently served as senior manager, strategic partnerships and agency management. Prior to joining Target, Gray held leadership roles at both Minneapolis-based publishers and ad agencies.

As director of business development, Gray will lead growth strategy, pitch process and marketing efforts for Colle McVoy and its brand practices, Exponent PR and 10 Thousand Design.

“It says a lot when an admired client raises her hand to come work for you and advocate on your behalf,” Christine Fruechte, who has served as Colle McVoy’s CEO for over a decade, said in a statement. “As a strategic decision maker, Gina knows what it takes to best position and differentiate us so we can sustain our momentum and elevate our brands as we pursue future growth.”

“I have long respected Colle McVoy for its work, people and incredible culture,” Gray added. “I knew that if I ever made the move back to the agency side, it would be there. I am passionate about helping to take Colle McVoy to the next level in its journey.”

According to a press release, the hire follows a “a record-setting first quarter” for the agency and precedes the launch of new campaigns and “business acquisitions.”
