Jess Greenwood is stepping into the role of global chief marketing officer at R/GA.

She replaces Daniel Diez, who left R/GA in 2018 to join Magic Leap as chief marketing and communications officer.

Greenwood previously served as U.S. co-chief strategy officer at R/GA alongside Tom Morton. Morton will lead the agency’s U.S. strategy team, which consists of more than 100 strategists across R/GA’s six offices. She first joined R/GA as director of business strategy in 2012 and briefly moved to Google in 2014 to work on the company’s creative partnerships team before returning to R/GA in 2014 as vice president of content and partnerships.

“Over the eight-ish years I’ve been at R/GA, I’ve taken on lots of differently shaped challenges, and am excited for this new one,” Greenwood said in a statement. “Marketing isn’t just communications—it’s a way to use external forces to define what a company is, and does. The R/GA brand is so different and powerful, and the talent within it frighteningly strong. I look forward to continuing our long tradition of skating to where the puck is going.”

In the new role, Greenwood will oversee the agency’s marketing department and craft the company’s products and positioning. At R/GA, Greenwood also leads WomanUp, an internal network designed to help women “define and realize success on their own terms.”
