Ogilvy U.K. CEO Michael Frohlich will return to his PR roots as he takes the unexpected step of becoming the CEO of Weber Shandwick EMEA.

According to sources who asked to be anonymous, Frohlich resigned from his post two weeks ago to make the move out of the WPP creative agency, where he had previously been CEO of Ogilvy’s public relations divisions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the U.K.

Frohlich will take up his new post in six months, according to the source.

Reporting to president and CEO Gail Heimann and chief growth officer Susan Howe, Frohlich will be charged with driving growth and developing the communications and marketing for clients within Weber Shandwick EMEA alongside the integration of specialist agencies That Lot, Flipside and Prime Weber Shandwick.
