With a name like Monkey Shoulder and the phrase “play with your whisky” as a mantra, this brand wants everyone to know it’s not your grandfather’s nightcap.

To further that goal, Monkey Shoulder launches a short film this week starring actor-comedian Joel McHale, who kicks off the video by thumbing his nose at traditional, staid advertising in the Scotch whisky category. He also crashes a random first date and saves the couple from a stuffy night at the ballet.
