When Keithcity’s founder was in college, he attempted to make a living through door-to-door sales in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. But Alejandro Corpus, an immigrant from Mexico, always had trouble completing the deal. He was often met with dirty looks and slammed doors—until he decided to pick up an alias, Keith, which later inspired his agency’s name.

“I wanted people to know me by my work and not my name,” he told Adweek. “There’s a lot of horror stories in the workplace of people getting discriminated against based on a name or first impression.
