There’s a fairly logical reason why hot dogs are sold 10 to a package and their corresponding buns come only in 8-count bags.* But who cares about food manufacturing history when this gross inequity continues to plague us?

Let’s be clear: Hot-dog-to-bun-ratio is less than a blip on the radar of actual problems, even those facing the barbecuing populace in summer 2021. But it’s an irritating enough truism of consumer packaged goods that Heinz has built a clever campaign around it.
