Essence, GroupM’s digital media agency, has expanded its presence into France with a Paris office that will be overseen by Guillaume de La Fléchère, chief executive of digital transformation agency Neo MediaWorld, to support emerging local client programmatic needs.

La Fléchère will continue in his current role while building Essence France, which will work alongside the rest of GroupM’s agencies in the country to offer technology, data science and e-commerce expertise to clients, including Google.

Explaining the need for the expansion, Essence’s EMEA CEO Tim Irwin said that French advertisers were combining programmatic with first-party data and needed partners who could consult on the necessary technology and arising opportunities as the industry readies for the death of the third-party cookie.

“We believe the time is right to enter this market, which is increasingly data and technology-driven; two of our strongest areas of expertise.
