Dentsu Aegis Network Expands Executive Team With New Creative Leaders

Dick Van Motman appointed as global CEO, creative, and Gordon Bowen as CCO

Gordon Bowen will continue to serve as chairman of mcgarrybowen.

Dentsu Aegis Network has expanded its executive team with the creation of two new creative leadership positions.

The new executives will work alongside executive leaders of other departments, including media and performance, CRM and loyalty, customer experience and commerce.

Dick Van Motman was appointed as global CEO, creative, tasked with developing and growing Dentsu Aegis Network’s creative offering globally. Van Motman formerly served as global president for Dentsu brand agencies out of Singapore.

Van Motman will work closely with Gordon Bowen, who will serve in the new role of chief creative officer for Dentsu Aegis Network, responsible for Dentsu Aegis Network’s overall creative output. Bowen will also continue to serve as chairman for Dentsu’s mcgarrybowen, which he co-founded in 2002.

Two additional appointments focus on developing operational functions and closer working relationships with Dentsu Inc., following the appointment of Volker Doberanzke as global president, DAN business operations in January.

Nicholas Rey takes on the new position of chief network development officer, tasked with developing and aligning the organization around client needs. So Aoki will serve in the new role of chief corporate planning officer, responsible for defining and delivering the strategic direction of the business.

All four of the new executives will report directly to Dentsu Aegis Network executive chairman and CEO Tim Andree, who succeeded former CEO Jerry Buhlmann last November, and will sit on the Dentsu Aegis Global Executive Committee.

“These important appointments to our executive team will drive even greater connection for our clients to the full spread of our world-class capabilities,” Andree said in a statement. “Clients want to work with agencies who provide outstanding, consistent services that can be integrated on a global basis and this announcement is a pivotal step to organizing our business around those priorities.”
