CP+B Names the Head of Recently Acquired Forsman & Bodenfors as Its New Global CEO

Erik Sollenberg will replace Lori Senecal

The 2 agencies will increase their "strategic alliance."

Crispin Porter + Bogusky announced today that Erik Sollenberg will be its next global chief executive officer.

The incoming CEO spent 14 years as head of Forsman & Bodenfors, the Swedish agency acquired by CP+B’s parent company, MDC Partners, just over a year ago. He will relocate to the agency’s headquarters in Boulder, Colo., overseeing all offices around the world and serving as co-CEO along with Lori Senecal until she departs at the end of the year.

Senecal, who has spent about eight years with the larger MDC organization, made headlines in May when she confirmed that she would be leaving the ad industry altogether when her contract expires in January.

“CP+B’s history and DNA is about one thing—great work—and Forsman & Bodenfors has been able to produce consistently brilliant creative for 30 years. That’s kind of amazing,” said agency chairman Chuck Porter in a statement.

He continued, “Lori Senecal is a great leader and she’s done a masterful job of architecting an innovative global strategy and structure for the agency. As she was making her decision to leave the industry, it was pretty clear what the best next step for the agency would be. I think Erik’s leadership, together with the creative talent that’s already here, is going to lead to some pretty spectacular things.”

Forsman & Bodenfors has been one of Europe’s most-acclaimed creative agencies in recent years, counting IKEA, P&G and Volvo among its clients. The agency may be best known for Volvo’s “Epic Split” campaign, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and won most of the ad industry’s top awards in 2014.

The two agencies have been working together as part of a “strategic alliance” since they became part of the same network last year.

“Forsman & Bodenfors and CP+B have many similarities, from our age to the way we help our clients interact with culture. Most importantly, we share an unwavering commitment to great creative work,” said Sollenberg, noting that he had “been an admirer” of the other agency for “many years.”

“This is a unique opportunity to bring what I’ve learned at F&B into more of a global context,” added the incoming CEO. “It’s also a chance to strengthen the strategic partnership between CP+B and F&B. I am confident that we will build upon our great legacies of reshaping what creative communication can be.”

CP+B works with clients such as Kraft Heinz, PayPal, American Airlines, Fruit of the Loom and Domino’s Pizza, which recently extended the agency’s decade-long contract by another three years. Longtime art director Silla Levin will replace Sollenberg as CEO of Forsman & Bodenfors, effective Sept. 1.
