CANNES, France—The need for a more diverse ad industry is a key theme at each Cannes Lions festival, and when it comes to making actual headway, agency recruiters are often on the front lines.

So we caught up with Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam recruiter Sophie Worth, a champion of diversity in all its forms, from ethnicity and gender to age and background.

It’s a mission made even more challenging by privacy laws in The Netherlands that prevent managers like Worth from tracking or even asking about factors like race. But Worth says the most important factor is having and nurturing a culture of inclusiveness, which can help agencies not only recruit, but also retain star talent.

In this special episode of Adweek’s podcast, “Yeah, That’s Probably an Ad,” Worth explains what agencies and HR managers should be doing to make the industry more representative.
