Schmidt Old Tyme produces 135 loaves a minute, so when the company received a call from hungry motorists stuck on I-95 in Virginia during Monday’s snowstorm, the decision to open up its truck and share the supply was what co-owner Chuck Paterakis calls “a no-brainer.”

“Part of our mission statement is to continuously improve the communities that we serve,” said Shawn Paterakis, account manager at parent company H&S Bakery. “It’s amazing how this blew up from what we considered to be a small gesture.”
