Podcast: How to Take Radical D&I Action in the Advertising Industry

Bennett D. Bennett and Nathan Young take the mic on this week's Yeah, That's Probably an Ad

Don't miss ADWEEK House at Cannes, June 16-19. Join us as we celebrate our 45th anniversary and explore the industry's now and next. RSVP.

On last week’s episode of Yeah, That’s Probably an Ad, we shared the mic with two Black creatives. This week in conjunction with our sister podcast D&I TBD, we hand the reins to consultant (and former BBDO copywriter) Bennett D. Bennett and Periscope strategist Nathan Young as our special co-hosts.

They are behind the urgent call to action for agencies on the diversity and inclusion front, and take us behind the scenes of how their letter to leadership—which has been signed by 600 ad professionals of color—came to fruition, and what traction they hope to see.

“Just showing up as a Black person in advertising is bravery,” Bennett said. “Just showing up makes you a leader; it does not matter if you’re C-suite. You represent so much more than yourself.”

“I feel honored to be a part of this moment,” Young added. “This moment feels different than other moments … where we are actually going to achieve the systemic change.”
